Another day at Anomaly ID 2000. Addust was now an overseer, even though previously having access to everywhere as a Director, now able to access the whole database, he had decided to instate a new protocol: 3 copies of himself were to exist at all times to counteract the Insurgency. He was the only one brave enough to test the creation of Anomaly 963-2, "The Gearworker's Amulet". He wore it constantly and eventually, during a breach, the original body perished. It was quickly brought to '2000 and duplicates created. The amulet was then used to sync all duplicates. After it was assured to work, other Council members volunteered and became essentially unstoppable. Each one had a variation of the Gearworker's Amulet with their Overseer Number on. But that's beside the point. Addust had decided to take care of Deus Ex Machina after the Suit Man had reset a timeline trashed by a failure of Deus Ex Machina prior to a nuclear missile aimed by an ISD agent at a pole that had been forgotten. Addust scanned his card into the secure push door - a one of its kind. It analysed the Personal Identifier stored on the card and accepted it. He took the elevator down to the primary duplication chamber. The 2 other instances of him were working on escorting the transfer of Shy Guy to Site-76 from Temporary Containment Site-96, established solely to contain the shy guy. He felt a scream through another instance's ears. Fortunately, a contingency implant in each instance had been triggered, causing the termination of the 2 instances escorting the subject. He booted up the duplicator and 2 new instances were created. He began the 2-month syncing process of both instances. During the process, the Insurgency attempted a raid on the site, which was protected by an anti-meme generated by a modified SRA. They got confused and walked off, but only after taking a lot of casualties from each instance's individual vehicular-based combat.
2 months later, the Dream Man confronted the Overseer, warning of an impending threat to humanity.
5 new instances were created throughout the rest of the year and synced. Then, each instance was scrambled to disable each factor leading to the threat.
It was a success, and the 5 new instances were transferred to Alpha-1, each commanding a different branch of the squadron assigned as Addust's security detail.
The instances each operate in different sites for security reasons. Instance 01 operates within Site-01, Instance 02 operates within Site-76 and is replaced the most often - lots of backups are always stored - Instance 03 operates in Site-02 as head of on-site security, instance 04, 05, 06, 07 and 08 operate as Alpha-1 commanders, and Instance 09 operates as a test subject, replaced the 2nd most often.
