The Painting was a low-threat anomaly that was stored in the Research Wing's Science Vault with the Skeleton Key. It was located nearby the Scientist Spawn and the Desert Tetrahedron.
Appearance and Effects[]
The Painting was a portrait-sized oil painting on canvas, created by an unknown artist. The Painting must always be kept in a frame with an opaque cover.
Anyone that looks at The Painting would not willingly turn their gaze away and will be unable to move away from it until the opaque cover blocks out their view. They would also become slow for about two minutes after looking at it. If a player had the Jade Ring and returned the Jade Ring to its containment, The Painting's effects would disappear.
Containment[]
The Painting was stored in a small room attached to the Skeleton Key's chamber. In order to get to the room, players had to turn off the lasers with the green button nearby the Vault entrance. It is important to note that the lasers have a short cooldown, meaning it was possible to get stuck in The Painting's chamber with no way out.
The Painting was shielded by an opaque cover that could be risen by pressing the green button opposite to The Painting, allowing the player to look at it.

This is a list of known updates to The Painting.
- b.0.2.0.2 - The Painting was removed to clear up memory space.
- b.0.1.957 - The Painting is moved from into the Science Vault and receives an entirely new chamber.
- b.0.1.7 - The Painting is moved from the Foundation Area to the Research Wing and had its spot replaced with the Eye Pods.
